Foyer

Where we all started:

Of course, the floors got some new paint, which is an easy alternative to stripping and refinishing, as did the walls--Old Fossil Stone. (You can check out my post on how I did the floors here!)

The original light fixture was pretty scary.

I scored a killer deal through Wayfair (Saint Charles Pendant by Jamie Young Company).

I gave it a Mercury effect with a little metallic spray paint and water.

Then I installed the thing.

After installing, I decided on a vintage light bulb (Original Vintage Style 60-Watt Incandescent ST19 Light Bulb). I love the look of the lightbulb itself--almost its own piece of decor--and the soft light it gives the room.

I placed a cabinet (which offers additional storage) along the right wall, on top of which a small lamp has been placed for hall lighting.

Along the right wall is a bench for seating, an great addition for any foyer/entryway, if possible. (I personally love this here for throwing on my shoes before heading out the door!)

I've switched out the rug several times and am still not sold on the one I currently have in here.

I repurposed an old storm window into a coat hanger now, affixed on the left wall.

An old hook I installed to hang purse, backpacks, etc.

One of my favorite details is my key ring holder. I found this hooked leaf at a thrift store and gave it a little bit of shine/color:

And so you have it!
